You yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by everybody. You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts. 2 Corinthians 3:2, 3
Few things testify to the power of God like a changed life. Stories once riddled with the wreckage of heartbreak end up rewritten against a backdrop of hope and love. Changed lives then become a story of redemption, read by everyone with whom they connect as a living and breathing testimony of the miracle of Emmanuel–God With Us.
This is what the leaders at Kids Across America Camps do each and every summer. They strive to change one life at a time. Bringing in kids from urban centers across the country, their mission is "to build Christian leaders by encouraging, equipping and empowering urban youth and their mentors through sports camping." In the process, the goal is to "revolutionize inner-city America through evangelism and equip urban youth."
I guess the need is huge. I recently spoke with President Gregg Bettis. who said hundreds of kids sit on a waiting list. They may or not make it this summer. Why? Not enough willing sponsors.
I’ve said it before…we can’t do everything, but we can certainly do something. I’m wondering, are there at least 10 people reading this who’d be willing to donate 10 bucks? We’ve got to start somewhere, and at least one potential life-changing leader would move off the waiting list to the camper list.
