Grasshoppers, locusts, katydids and crickets. All considered “clean insects”, just in case you’re having trouble coming up with tonight’s dinner menu. Chew on that for a while. Ick. The thought makes me want to grab a garbage can and and a toothpick.
This above fact is one of my biggest take-aways from this past week’s reading. Disgusting, but adds a spiritual dimension to my watching of “Survivor.” Okay, so that’s a stretch.
If you’re having trouble absorbing all the do’s and don’ts of the Old Testament, and need extra resources to add some commentary, I recommend the Archaeological Study Bible by Zondervan, Logos Bible Software (VERY good, though Mac users have to use Parallels), and Edersheim’s Sketches of Jewish Social Life. These are a handful of the resources I use regularly, and they’re GOOD.
We’re still plugging away at Leviticus, but will wrap it up this week and dive into Numbers. Book number 5 on our journey. Time to get a jump on it (Grasshopper humor).
