Seth Godin posted an article titled “The Next Google” on Saturday. It’s a ho-hum article, aside from one line which hooked me:
“Don’t try to be the ‘next.’ Instead, try to be the other, the changer, the new.”
Every time a good speaker or writer or performer or business leader comes along, a thousand someone else’s try to imitate their success by taking a cookie-cutter to their strategy. The result? We have a million thinly-veiled replicas of Rick Warren’s “The Purpose Driven Life” and Beth Moore’s Bible Study teaching.
As wonderful as each is, the world doesn’t need another Rick Warren or Beth Moore. The world needs one YOU.
Stop trying to create a counterfeit. Focus instead on making sure you’re the real deal.
