First things first: WELCOME to all my new Hearts At Home friends! How I loved meeting you this weekend. You filled my heart to overflowing. Thank you for those who introduced themselves. To the many others I didn’t get to meet, I hope we can connect here or on Facebook. Seldom have I enjoyed hanging out with a group of people as much as I enjoyed you!
Now, I know I haven’t been posting much. Actually, I haven’t been posting at all for the past few weeks. Ugh! My intentions are good, but life keeps interrupting. Don’t you hate it when that happens?! And, as much as I love writing, I’ve had to prioritize. As I told a room full of beautiful moms this past weekend, we have limits. We’re not made it do it all and be it all. When family responsibilities, work deadlines, and physical demands pile up, the blog is usually one of the first things I postpone. I’m hoping to remedy this soon by simply posting once a week, probably Mondays or Wednesdays. Until then, thank you for being patient with me!
One of the other reasons I haven’t been posting much is I’ve been in the middle of a web redesign. Tekeme Studios is doing a fabulous job designing and implementing my new site. I hope it will be live this week sometime, so check back later and give it a look. It will be more of a landing page/website rather than a blog. But I’ll still have a blog page so we can stay connected. I’d love to know what you think.
Last week was a bit insane. Monday I had an emergency root canal (my first one ever!), followed by a crazy week of traveling and speaking. Loved the travel and speaking. Loved the root canal and abscess much less. With such physical demands these past several days, I’ve decided to take it easy for the first half of this week. In fact, as I type, I’m curled up in bed contemplating a nap. It isn’t even 10 AM! But, a mom’s gotta do what a mom’s gotta do.
What are you doing this week to take care of yourself?
Yes, life does have a way of interrupting us. God gave me a gift yesterday though, kind of a calm before the rest of the stormy week. I got to take it easy, read a book and catch up on the phone with a friend.
I'm learning that my response to interruptions tells me something about my current state. If I response to an interruption with anger, tears or exasperation, then I'm probably overloaded! For me, it's been very telling. 🙂 I'm so glad you had a haven of calm yesterday. What a gift! Missing you.
Thank you so much for your time at Hearts at Home! This was my 11th conference (it's my business trip each year), and you taught me more about how to have a relationship with God and have children with me all the time at the same time better than I've heard in a while! Your insight truly helped me see how I was already moving in the right direction and how I could "tweak" my days to have more effective time with God!
It was absolutely great to have you share with us what God had revealed to you!
Thank you so much, Rachel. What wonderful encouragement from a seasoned HAH'er! 🙂 Unfortunately, I'm a little thick-headed so I've had to learn these lessons the hard way. But God is good to teach me, and I'm enjoying Him more now than ever before. So glad we've connected, my friend.
Michele, Thank you for your authenticity at the Hearts at Home Conf.! I was encouraged & inspired to be realistic and challenged to share my story with others to Glorify God more. When you asked questions and 30 hands went up, and we all had the same thing in common there was Healing in that sight and realization that I am not alone. Thank you for your Mosaic and your courage.
Hi, Tonya. You are NOT alone. I'm thrilled that message came through loud and clear! One of the most difficult parts of being in a stepfamily is the sense of isolation (as well as the blanket of shame). The more we link arms and encourage one another, the stronger our families will be. Thank you for YOUR courage, for being willing to learn and for leading the way in hope for your family. You're a treasure!
Hi Michele! Echoing the posts above, thank you for a wonderful session. There is so much work to be done in the topics you discussed. You were called to share this good news to us. Many thanks. I call for a counter-cultural mom' s group. This quote reminds me of your wise words:
Authentic God experience gives you another place to stand, another identity, a spacious and gracious place which invites you to stand outside of the dominant consciousness that surrounds you and that everybody accepts as “reality.” Amen.
Hope you are healing from your root canal.
You all are blessing me today. 🙂 Thank you for your sweet encouragement, Kathryn. Your desire to experience our very real God inspires the rest of us! May God lead you as you lead others in His truth!
P.S. My mouth/tooth is getting a little better each day. Thanks for asking! 🙂
your new “home” looks BEAUTIFUL! it feels peaceful here. truly.
Thank you, Alece! It’s was time for an update, and I’m enjoying it. It feels peaceful to me, too.
I enjoyed your workshop on God Infusions at Hearts! As I was typing up my notes (yes, several months later), I remember you playing a CD….Nimrod from the Enigma Variations by Edward Elgar? I was wondering what the CD title was as I would like to add it to our families listening library. Thank You and God Bless!
Hi, Julianne! That particular version is from the soundtrack to the movie “Australia.” I downloaded most of it on iTunes. Beautiful! I hope you’re doing well, and feeling infused by our very real and present Father! 🙂
Love the website look!
Ah, thanks, Jeff! A big undertaking, but I’m happy with the result. Tekeme Studios did a great job.
